Traveling with a baby who is only breastfeeding or only eating table food is easy but what about when you've started introducing solids? We personally don't buy pre-made baby food so we make all of our purees at home. Here is what I do when we are traveling.
If we are only going away for 2-3 days we usually just make enough for the time we will be gone and take it with us. We usually stay in Airbnbs so a fridge is always there for us to store it once we arrive. For the drive or plane ride I just pack the food in my cooler with freezer packs or bring a zip-lock bag and get it filled with ice once past security at the airport. You are allowed to bring purees through TSA if you are traveling with a child, they just do additional screening. If we are staying at a hotel we make sure our room has a fridge and if it typically doesn't if you let them know the reason you need one when booking they typically provide one free of charge. If it's an early morning flight I will make the food the night before but if it's an afternoon one I will make it the day we leave.
If we are going away for more than 3 days I will make Kennedy's food when we get to our destination as I only make enough for 3 days at a time anyway. When first introducing solids they need to be completely pureed so I have a Baby Bullet that I use to puree her food and it is very compact so easy to travel with. If you don't have one or don't want to bring something extra with you and are staying at a vacation home you can ask the host if they have a blender. For these you just make the food like you normally would at home.
If you are in stage 2 of pureed foods, usually around 8 months, the foods don't need to be pureed as smoothly so I ditch the baby bullet and prepare foods that don't require steaming, baking, or boiling. These foods include bananas and avocados (sorry Kennedy you'll be eating the same thing all week). I just add some water or breast milk and mash with a fork until I get the consistency suitable for her. If you're open to dairy products you can also do plain Greek yogurt which doesn't require any extra work.
Even if your baby is on stage 1 solids these options are also great if you are staying at a hotel with no access to a stove to steam or bake the food. You can bring your Baby Bullet and use it to fully puree without needing to cook the foods first.
